PLA - Property Litigation Association

Law Reform

Who are we?

Members of the committee are drawn from a wide range of firms in terms of size and location and includes members specialising in all aspects of property litigation including commercial, residential and agricultural property law.

What do we do?

  • To monitor new legislation, consult with members of the PLA on the practical workings of that legislation, to collect soundings and to disseminate the results of those soundings/findings to members of the PLA as a whole;
  • To consider consultation papers issued, for example, by the Law Commission and to collate considered responses where appropriate;
  • To liaise as appropriate with other Law Reform working parties including RICS, ODPM, BPF and others;

What can you do to help us?

Please use the mailboxes of our members to feed in your experiences, particularly of the way in which the courts are implementing and applying the new CPR. Any experience on the workings of Parts 55 or 56 would be very welcome.

Although we have managed to keep up with or ahead of proposals for change in property law that would affect the members of the PLA, we are always pleased to hear from members (or anyone with an interest) with details of such proposals preferably before they have become part of a consultation paper or draft Bill. If you become aware of any, contact jacqui.joyce@thomaseggar.com

What can we do to help you?

With your help, we can collate experiences and information and then distil and distribute it for the benefit of all our members.
