Junior Property Litigation Event

Registration: 6pm
Event: 6.30-8pm followed by drinks and networking

The pressure of resolving some property disputes can be intense. The stakes are usually high and it often feels like failure is not an option. The ability to successfully negotiate in such circumstances is vital and yet training opportunities for property litigators on this important skill are few and far between.  The JPLA are proud to facilitate an exciting and unique negotiation training session co-hosted by Phil Williams (a former senior hostage negotiator who operated in a world where negotiation skills were a matter of life or death) and Mandy Lenton (property mediator and lead member of the CEDR faculty team).

Frequently asked, ‘so how do you get someone to……….?’ Philip draws on a unique professional journey. As former Director of the UK’s Hostage and Crisis Negotiation programme, his experience includes deployments in some of the tensest, most hostile, high-stake environments across six continents. As a specialist advisor to successive UK governments and global organisations, he has gained unparalleled skills within the high pressure world of crisis leadership, critical decision-making and life-at-risk negotiation.

Hostage negotiation skills are used by experts globally to save lives. However, when applied in everyday business, they can save a career, a reputation or a business. This masterclass will teach you:

  • How to master yourself in negotiations – sophisticated and effective negotiators are in control of themselves; behaving and responding well in high pressure, fast-paced situations
  • Fundamental negotiation skills – change the dynamic of a negotiation to your advantage
  • A best practice negotiation process – for the best results, skills need to be used as part of a tried and tested process
