Law Reform is a fundamental role of the PLA. We are the representative body of contentious and advisory Property lawyers. As such, we need not just to be on top of the law, we also need to anticipate change in the law and be an active lobbying voice in proposing suitable changes to the law or providing critique on proposed reform that we do not consider appropriate.
In addition to responding to formal consultations by the Law Commission, Ministry of Justice and others, the PLA Law Reform Committee also works with other industry organisations such as the British Property Federation, British Retail Consortium, RICS and Property Bar Association to identify and lobby on areas where a change to the law is necessary or desirable. Members of The Law Reform Committee also sit on various Court User groups and committees, to ensure that the PLA’s voice is heard.
Details of the Law Reform Committee’s current and past work may be found here.
Some parts of this website are open only to members of the PLA.
