2019 – The Year of the Disruptor? – Joint PLA/PBA Panel Event

Well over 100 PLA and PBA members attended the joint event on Wednesday 23rd January, where leading property professionals discussed the key property trends; laws and economic challenges that are set to disrupt the market in 2019.

A hot topic of debate between the panellists and the audience was the impact of the new Electronic Communications Code. Panellist and PLA member Emma Humphreys highlighted that the increasing tension between landowners and operators is causing stagnation, which is not what the government intended. Landowners wishing to retain flexibility for development does not sit comfortably with the public interest in having high quality communications services. Operators are taking an increasingly forceful approach to installing apparatus using the new Code rights. Without reform, the new Code threatens to cause major disruption in 2019.
