David Hacker
Firm: Thackray Williams LLP
Job title: Partner
Regions: London & South East
I am currently ahead of the litigation department at Thackray Williams and my personal practice involves predominantly commercial property litigation. I am 32 years qualified. I have been looking at joining the PLA for many years, but the issue I have is that we have not had two other members of the association at my firm to propose and second me. My junior colleague Anahita Zandi has recently applied for and obtained membership, and I would like to do the same. Whilst Anahita is happy to propose me as a Member, I do not have a seconder at Thackray Williams and the majority of the other property professionals I engage with are barristers and surveyors. For the purpose of considering my application, despite this, I can confirm that approximately 90% my practice consists of or relates to property disputes. Of that about 70% relates to commercial property disputes involving dilapidations claims, forfeiture, lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and other disputes under the Act and more widely. The remainder of my practice consists of disputes involving easements, rights of way and other property related Issues. I have a number of colleagues in my department who specialise other areas of property law, including residential landlord & tenant and leasehold enfranchisement.
