The PLA Annual Conference 2024 was held at Keble College, Oxford, on 22 March. The speakers have made their slides and notes available to members.

The 1954 Act – a breakdown for juniors This online session by James Tipler and Mark Galtrey of Falcon Chambers focussed on the nuts and bolts of the ’54 Act – when it applies, what it does, and how it works – explaining key case law and recent developments that practitioners need to be aware of, as well as potential pitfalls, touching on both opposed and unopposed business lease renewals. The PLA North held a seminar with Trinity Chambers at Pinsent Masons, One Park Row, Leeds, LS1 5AB on 14 Marchh 2024 covering a number of topics. The slides are available to members.

PLA and PBA hosted a panel debate to explore the pros and cons of the existing regime and how far (or not) the Law Commission should go in recommending reform. The recording is available for members.

The Midlands JPLA hosted a soft skills training session: How to build your personal brand with social media guru, Samantha Wiltshire, who provided training on defining and building your personal brand, creating an effective LinkedIn profile to generate the right following and engagement, the value of recommendations and the future benefits of developing yourself online and offline.
