On 19 May 2022 the JPLA held an insightful and well received Nuts & Bolts Training session on Cladding and Service Charge presented by Robert Brown of Selborne Chambers and Neil Maloney of My Homes Surveyor.

I am very honoured to be your president and I hope I can give some useful support to this important and distinguished association.

This is my first blog as chair of the Property Litigation Association.  I must begin by thanking my predecessor, Gary Lawrenson, for his service this past year as PLA chair.  Gary’s enthusiasm, encouragement and relentless positivity have seen us through the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic and not only survive but thrive.

The honour is all mine: The JPLA host an insightful Q&A session hearing from two of the PLA’s honorary members, Katie Bradford and Vivien King, with hints and tips on what they wish they had known when they were starting out in their careers and some war stories from their time in practice

Sir Winston Churchill famously said: “a pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist the opportunity in every difficulty.” Adopting this test, our Education and Training Committee (ETC), led brilliantly by Rebecca Campbell over the last couple of years, are most certainly optimists.

On Thursday 11 March 2021, the JPLA hosted its inaugural event in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The junior arm of the Property Litigation Association has always played a key role in the Association and I am delighted that we have been able to “see” many of you (along with our JPBA comrades) in various virtual quizzes, as well as at some of our academic webinars, during this strange time
